About Us

Paul's career in professional technical theatre began over 20 years ago when working within the events and rental department of Stage Electrics. Then followed 5 years at Lancaster University when a BA (Hons) in Theatre Studies was shoe-horned in between freelance work (including 35mm projection and a season on the world famous park promenade production) at the local Dukes Theatre. Paul also worked freelance on small scale touring shows and designed Lighting and Sound for 30+ productions during this time.
On moving to Scotland, Paul worked on a freelance/contract basis for a number of venues (including Rothes Halls, and Carnegie Halls) and a conference/AV production company.
Paul worked as Project Manager for technical performance installation company, Black Light Ltd, from 1996-2011. He helped grow the organisation to become one of the largest, highest quality and most well respected specialist installation companies in Scotland and the UK. His work encompassed client liaison, identification of end-user requirements, technical design and specification, design development work alongside project architects and M&E consultants, production of CAD drawings and O+M Manuals, procurement, installation project management and user training.
Paul's specialist knowledge and experience comprises Stage Lighting, Stage Sound, Audio Visual, Staging and Stage Engineering, and Architectural Lighting. Becasue Paul has worked as venue technician, end user, designer, installation project manager, and has extensive experience in the construction industry, he is uniquely placed to bring successful outcomes to a consultancy project. He has direct and considerable experience of the needs of end-users, venue technicians and managers, performers, architects, M&E consultants, site project managers, main contractors, and electrical sub-contractors.
In short, Paul is able to bring the creative, technical and practical skills that are required to make your project more successful, higher quality, and achieve greater value for money. He helps get it right first time, every time.
Paul also runs a small race organisation business - Durty Events - and is an active Triathlete, Adventure Racer and Cyclist. Here's a nice profile article that was published in Scotland Outdoors magazine (www.scotoutdoors.com) - LINK
